The Republic's Song

Hi people, listen to this story,
of much infamy and little glory,
about Countries which are divided
between those upright and those sat down,
that is like to say papal papal:
those who are not and who are the State.

From Cavour to Mussolini,
from Fanfani to Berlusconi,
no matter who are up there:
they to them swear loyalty
and in return have established
guarantee of a job for life.

There are many evildoers,
but they are not destroyers
of that ancient and healthy pact
which makes people sovereign
and therefore all common goods
it wants to all belong.

Republic is something
which means a cohesive people
and all positions of power
be subject to be reviewed,
are leaders and governors,
are ushers and professors.

We are all citizens,
we're not at all idiots.
We want just what is ours,
let us re-assign that job!

While convinced to be good,
to just do their duty,
the bureaucrats hoist a power
that their will cancels,
that separates them from the others
and against them they prepare.

Both the rights and the lefts
live on our meager shoulders
and their faithful companions,
that still we call bureaucrats,
execute orders and sanctions
without placing never objections.

Give a read to the Constitution
and clear you'll have the question,
it is the principle of equality
to do the whole substance:
the person is what matters,
no mention of the bureaucrats.

We are all citizens,
we're not at all idiots.
We want just what is ours,
let us re-assign that job!

Therefore you who are bureaucrat,
so that everything become fair,
as those in the government
you must give in the turn to others,
to another job you will must go,
so you will practice democracy.

By participating Res Publica,
sharing common goods and powers,
nobody longer will be subject
to hunger, prison or rejection,
we will be equal and each will have
what it is righteous to be due.

We are all citizens,
we're not at all idiots.
We want just what is ours,
let us re-assign that job!

We are all citizens,
we're not at all idiots.
We want just what is ours,
let us re-assign that job!
